Audio-Technica ATH-SQ1TW2 Colourful, Compact, Low-Cost Buds
Super-affordable, Audio-technica's new SQ1TW2 wireless buds promise "heaps of hi-fi energy".
Audio-Technica has followed its higher-tiered Audio-Technica ATH-TWX7 with the entry-level and budget-conscious ATH-SQ1TW2 wireless earbuds.

Replacing the SQ1TW1 budget buds, the new model features 5.8mm drivers that offer "powerful lows and sparkling highs" for what Audio-Technica says will be the most immersive listening experience possible at this price.

Although unsurprisingly dropping active noise cancelling skills, the IPX5-rated SQ1TW2 does offer the company's ambient sound feature, which gives you control over when sounds from the outside pass through to your ears—a hear-through mode allows greater ambient awareness, whereas the talk-through option allows you to tune the world in or out.

We're told to expect 6.5 hours of playback on a full charge with an additional 13.5 hours coming from the charging case, totalling a decent 20 hours of total playtime. Wireless Qi charging is supported, but fast charging capabilities are not mentioned.
What is mentioned, however, are the buds' on-ear touch controls for volume, playback, and answering calls. The latter is hyped as being "crystal-clear" thanks to optimally placed microphones that help mitigate ambient noise.

Meanwhile, multipoint Bluetooth is on board alongside Fast Pair for speedy connection to Android devices.
The Audio-Technica ATH-SQ1TW2 is available in black, white, navy, red, or forest green and is priced at £49/ €59.
