AUDIO-TECHNICA GOES WIRELESS
Audio-technica is on a roll. The headphone maestro is poised to continue unveiling a flurry of headphones with cables but it’s covering all the bases with its svelte AR5BT wireless, over ear model.
Following the announcement of the Limited Edition MX50 in satin red, it was always going to be a hard act for the wireless AR5BT to follow.
Credit to Audio-technica who has loaded the fine sounding AR5BT with a bundle of really desirable features to ensure it doesn’t get lost in the crowd.
How about a battery life of 30 hours? That’s continuous usage and a boon to those on the go. Also handy is a standby battery life of about 1000 hours. More than enough to defray pesky battery recharges.
A fully modern ‘phone, the AR5BT of course comes with obligatory Bluetooth wireless technology. Well it is a wireless model inn ‘it?
The switch for Bluetooth mode along with microphone and volume/control switch are neatly built into the left earcup and simply a matter of reaching for this earpad with an index finger.
Pairing the AR5BT with smart devices is as painless as engaging the Near Field Communication (NFC) protocol and touch pairing your phone or tablet in seconds.
Moreover, the AR5BT is compatible with devices that are Qualcomm aptX, AAC and SBC codec enabled.
Sound is why any headphone should be considered by potential buyers. Great features and lousy sound are a turnoff for savvy consumers.
No problem. Like the illustrious and ultra in demand MX50 model, sound emanates from each slinky AR5BT earpad via 45 mm drivers.
In a neat touch, Audio-technica puts an LED indicator light in the left earcup to show the status of pairing, Bluetooth, battery life and charging mode.
This is a model with features attracting music lovers on the move. Soft, memory foam earpads and simple to adjust headband slider make for a snug fit and comfortable long listening sessions.
An included cable with mic/control is handy when wireless mode isn’t permitted or convenient. But it’s also as handy when you’re low on battery power or you must have Hi-Res Audio streams.
The clincher is the AR5BT’s foldable design that makes them easy to transport.
