beyerdynamic Release Amiron Home Headphones

Australia's beyerdynamic distributor, Syntec, have announced the availability of the German hand-made 'Amiron home' open headphones.

The undisputed experts in headphones with more than 90 years' experience have recongised the demand for high-quality headphones outside the studio or live arena in more recent years.

From the flagship DT 1990 PRO StereoNET reviewed recently, it's clearly obvious this brand is not afraid to deliver premium sound, even finer materials and technology, and pitch it at the discerning head-fi enthusiast. The rise of the brand's popularity outside the traditional pro market is evidence what they are doing is certainly working.

The latest release is the Amiron home edition, an open backed headphone with all the tonal quality of their higher offerings, but with a focus on comfort and importantly, an easy to drive 250-ohm transducer that should see compatibility with smartphones and tablets.

Wayne Farran, National Sales & Marketing Manager at Syntec told StereoNET:

When music truly touches the listener, when it sends shivers down the spine and conveys the sense of being right there at the concert or club, you know you’re listening to the new Amiron home.

According to beyerdynamic, their engineers focused on the development and refinement of both the build quality and materials used to get a better wearing comfort. Every last detail of the handcrafted Amiron home has been comprehensively designed and tested for durability.

The placement of an additional fabric in front of the multilayer compound calotte reduces high-frequency resonances. In addition, the acoustic transducers are dampened on the rear to ensure an even more balanced frequency response in the mid-range; a new ear pad filling material has also been used too effectively increase bass precision. All in all, this adds up to a warm, stress-free sound with fascinating spaciousness – as intoxicating as in a live concert.

Amiron home features soft microfiber velour earpads that are said to be temperature balancing and moisture regulating.

They're supplied with a 3-meter connection cable that is detachable at each earcup, without soldered joints at the Y-adaptor. A single continous cable runs from the gold-plated jack to ensure longevity and reliability.

beyerdynamic Amiron home headphones are available from this month for $999 RRP.

applause awards

Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.

Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.

The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.

We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
