Bowers & Wilkins’ New Zeppelin Wireless

Bowers & Wilkins, in their uncompromising pursuit of acoustic excellence have released an updated Zeppelin, some eight years after the original.
Geoff Matthews, CEO of B&W's Australian distributor Convoy, told StereoNET:
The new Zeppelin Wireless has the same instantly recognisable silhouette as the original Zeppelin, but every element of the speaker has been redesigned to deliver superlative audio performance; once again redefining what is possible from a single speaker system.
With five completely new drive units, Zeppelin Wireless features two Double Dome tweeters, two midrange drivers and a new, larger 6.5” subwoofer with ultra-long voice coil, allowing deeper bass to be played at impressive volumes.
With an all new, twice as powerful DSP, Zeppelin Wireless creates a more detailed and refined sound, making it a truly enhanced listening experience. Bringing Zeppelin Wireless up to date with today's connectivity options, AirPlay, Bluetooth aptX and Spotify Connect are all now included. There's also a Bowers & Wilkins Control App (iOS, Android, Mac and PC) so now it’s easier and more convenient for you to control volume and playback functions for the ultimate easy listening experience.
Finally, while respecting the visual appeal of the original Zeppelin, the new Zeppelin Wireless uses a redesigned and reinforced cabinet to reduce vibrations, providing a solid platform for the drivers. The front fascia is 50% thicker than
the previous version, with specially designed glass fibre ribs that strengthen the cabinet in all the right places.
Matthews continued:
The iconic Zeppelin gets its most comprehensive makeover yet, turning it into a more accomplished, flexible and compelling wireless audio solution. The king of docking speakers makes way for the king of wireless speakers.
Bowers & Wilkins Zeppelin Wireless will be available from November 2015 for $999.95 RRP.
Bowers & Wilkins is distributed in Australia by Convoy.

applause awards
Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.
Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.
The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.
We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
