Recognising the huge market that is now portable audio, the UK's Chord Electronics have placed their bets on the humble smartphone being the source of choice, and the eventual decline of dedicated portable audio players; or at least we suspect.

The first of its kind in the world the Poly is a portable music streamer that when clicked into the Mojo Headphone Amplifier and DAC, enables music to be streamed wirelessly, "in the best possible sound quality."

It also expands the capacity of the music library you can take on-the-go thanks to the MicroSD slot.

Ultimately the Mojo and Poly (or 'Mojopoly' as we like to say) make expensive digital audio players redundant. Chord says that future firmware updates will allow native Spotify and Tidal integration, while the soon to be released dedicated app, GoFigure, will make the initial network set-up and device configuration settings a breeze.

Mojo and Poly are not only designed in Britain but the precision CNC machining, anodising, laser etching and assembly all proudly take place in Britain too.

Locally the Mojo sells for $799 RRP, while the Poly addon will sell for $1000 RRP. For a limited time, the Mojo and Poly together will be available for $1500 with a free leather case.
