CREEK AUDIO’S NEW INTEGRATED AMPS ARE VERSATILE AND AFFORDABLE

No one enjoys paying for features and functions they don't need or want. That's why Creek's new Evolution 50A and 100A integrated amplifiers are going to please those looking for an affordable and versatile heart of a Hi-Fi system.
Under new distribution in Australia, the two models, offering 55 watts and 110 watts per channel, respectively, are built upon a modular architecture that lets the user add on only the features they need.
Evolution 50A ($1,785 RRP) and Evolution 100A ($2,695 RRP) feature a push-button and backlit button design, an OLED display and an understated look and come in a choice of black or silver finish.
At the heart of any good amplifier lies a good power supply. The Class G Evolution 50A uses a massive 200-watt toroidal mains transformer, while the 100A uses a 360-watt, low profile toroidal mains transformer. Both utilise separate windings for high and low current analogue and digital circuitry.
Where the Evolution series differs to most amplifiers though is the ability for the end user (or retailers) to add additional modules, increasing the versatility of the amplifiers.
Both models can be equipped with a Sequel Mk3 Moving Magnet Phono Board ($265 RRP), AMBIT AM/FM Tuner Module ($265 RRP), Ruby 2 24bit/192kHz DAC Module ($825 RRP) with 4 x SPDIF and 1 x USB inputs, and also features Bluetooth aptX and FM Tuner, or finally, the Comet Bluetooth Module ($265 RRP).
Standard inputs include 5 x RCA unbalanced, and 1 x XLR balanced, and there's also a dedicated headphone output circuit.
There's also an optional IR extender to enable the products to be hidden away in a cabinet but still able to be controlled via the remote control.
Creek Audio says the Evolution integrated amplifiers are the "most sophisticated and reasonably priced amplifiers we've ever made."
StereoNET had a hands-on demonstration at an exclusive launch event last week in Melbourne. Combined with the affordable and also newly launched in Australia loudspeakers from Acoustic Energy, they left us most impressed.
The Creek Audio Evolution range also includes the Evolution 50CD DAC and CD Transport ($1,985 RRP), and Evolution 100P Power Amplifier ($2,695 RRP) rated at 110 watts per channel (8 ohms), which can also be bridged to mono offering 400 watts (4 ohms) into one channel.
The Creek Audio Evolution range will be available in January 2019.

applause awards
Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.
Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.
The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.
We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
