David Price Joins StereoNET as Editor-in-Chief, Global
What started as a humble hi-fi forum right around the time people feared that the world would self-destruct with the Y2K bug, has evolved into one of the world’s leading publications in hi-fi and home cinema.
StereoNET, now with independent publications in United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand, United States and Canada, and Asia, continues its upward trajectory attracting a growing audience of over One Million monthly readers.
Fully embracing the digital era of publishing, StereoNET's editorial team is strategically placed geographically to deliver the latest news and events from around the world.
We're pleased to announce the latest addition to the team, with David Price appointed as Editor-in-Chief, International.
Based in Marlborough UK, David is one of the most respected – and longest-running – hi-fi magazine editors and journalists in the United Kingdom. He began his career in 1993 writing for Hi-Fi World and went on to edit the magazine for nearly a decade. He was then made Editor of Hi-Fi Choice, and has freelanced for it and Hi-Fi News ever since. He also wrote about technology for The Sunday Times for twelve years, as well as contributing to the BBC, The Times, The Daily Telegraph, The Independent and i newspapers.
On his new appointment, David said:
It's an absolutely fabulous opportunity to make a good read great. StereoNET is already one of the most lively and prolific online hi-fi resources – and my role is to bolster the breadth and depth of its coverage, and further raise the quality. Whatever else people read online, I want StereoNET to be part of it.
David has been a hi-fi fan since the early nineteen eighties – for him a passion second only to music itself. A long-time analogue addict, he has many thousands of LPs and tapes, but now feels that digital audio is finally coming of age. He has an extensive collection of classic hi-fi of all shapes and sizes, spanning fifty or more years. He's a fan of both tube and transistor amplifiers, and moving coil and electrostatic loudspeakers.
David added:
I have either reviewed, owned or heard practically every significant hi-fi product ever launched. The classics that I was too young to review the first time around, I later bought to audition. I have probably hung on to too many of them…
David joins Jay Garrett who heads up the UK edition as Editor, and Founder and Publisher, Marc Rushton, who heads up the Australia and New Zealand edition.

StereoNET's Management team is further complemented by ex-Brit and now Melbourne-based Robert Follis as Director of Sales & Business Development - International, who brings nearly forty years of industry experience to the team.
Rushton added:
We're very pleased to welcome David Price to the team. As StereoNET has grown, we've been looking for the right person to head up the editorial team, so David's appointment comes at the right time. David brings a fresh outlook and loads of experience to our organisation, and we're very excited to work with him.
David is attending next week's StereoNET organised 2019 Melbourne Hi-Fi Show so look out for some coverage of what's happening over in the Australia Hi-Fi industry in weeks to come.
Welcome, David Price.

applause awards
Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.
Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.
The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.
We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
