EMOTIVA ANNOUNCES STEALTH PA-1 CLASS D MONO AMPLIFIERS

American audio brand Emotiva slipped out its new Class D monoblock power amplifier, the Stealth PA-1, at the recent CEDIA event in San Diego.
According to Emotiva, the new Stealth PA-1 monoblock amplifier delivers 140wpc (8 Ohms) / 300wpc (4 Ohms) of Class D power.
Measuring a compact 5cm x 21.5cm x 23cm and tipping the scales at just 1.4kg, it features an ICEpower 300ASC module in a package that would be equally at home in a desktop system as well as your main Hi-Fi.
As the Stealth PA-1 requires minimal ventilation, you can fit it into a home theatre or studio rack set-up - each monoblock only takes up a single 1U space.
The combination input on the Stealth PA-1 accepts both XLR and 1/4-inch balanced input connections that apply 28db of voltage gain to the incoming signal before outputting via the ‘5-way’ gold-plated loudspeaker binding posts. The PA-1 also plays nice with any unbalanced input source with the addition of a low-cost passive adapter.
In addition to the 8- and 4-ohm loads, the Stealth PA-1 can deliver even more power into loads as low as 2.7 Ohms; a skill that makes these monoblocks flexible enough to work with just about any loudspeakers or passive subs.
The Stealth PA-1 monoblocks will be available later this year, but Australian pricing has not yet been confirmed. In the UK, they will sell for £330 each, or £660 for a pair.

applause awards
Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.
Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.
The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.
We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
