FiiO S15 Audio Streamer Unveiled at CES 2025
FiiO launches the S15, its first full-sized audio streamer, at the Las Vegas show.
CES 2025 is upon us, meaning plenty of tech announcements ahead. FiiO has kicked things off with three different products, but we're very excited by the FiiO S15. This is the Chi-Fi brand's first full-size audio streamer, following its well-received compact FiiO R7 and R9 offerings.
Equipped with an AK4191+AK4499EX DAC setup that separates the digital and analogue portions, an M.2 hard drive slot (up to 2TB) in the undercarriage and custom FiiO technology like digital audio purification system (DAPS) for a cleaner sound without jitter, the S15 looks like it will be a strong contender against established streamer companies like Eversolo (who also revealed a new model at CES), WiiM and Bluesound.
The S15 has dual ultra-low phase noise femtosecond oscillators from ACCUSILICON for precise digital output that isn't affected by phase noise. The fully balanced analogue audio architecture inside helps reduce crosstalk and interference, with physical separation between the analogue, digital and power sections. There's a large 7.84-inch colour display for information, and the unit runs on a Snapdragon 660 processor powered by a 35W low-noise linear power supply.
With Bluetooth 5.1 and support for codecs such as SBC, AAC, aptX, aptX HD and even LDAC and LHDC, high-res streaming will be possible if receiving devices support it.
There are plenty of connectors on the rear, with options such as optical, coaxial and HDMI inputs alongside digital coaxial, optical and HDMI outputs. If used as a USB-DAC, the streamer will support up to 768kHz / 32bit and native DSD512.
For coaxial and AES out, audio will be limited up to 384kHz/24bit; DSD128 (D2P/DOP). Meanwhile, the S15 will support up to 192kHz/24bit for optical and HDMI out.
Aside from being Roon Ready, the FiiO S15 also comes with Apple AirPlay 2, Spotify Connect and other streaming services.
Priced at US$999 / £999 / €1.000, the FiiO S15 is slated for release in late January 2025.

applause awards
Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.
Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.
The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.
We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
