Focal P60 Porsche 911 Speaker Upgrade Bound To Go Fast

Focal offers P60 Porsche 911 (992) plug-and-play performance upgrade in a swish suitcase.
The Porsche 911 has long been held as one of the best-handling everyday drivers' cars, but some might feel it still needs to improve in a particular area (unless you've already opted for the upgraded Burmester system, we're assuming). This is where French speaker firm Focal comes in to offer a limited edition DIY upgrade kit presented in a lovely-looking travel case.
Focal's P60 Limited Edition self-install speaker kit has been designed by the Saint-Étienne-based speaker maestros specifically for the Porsche 911 (992).
The bespoke case features an engraved aluminium plate certifying the kit number - the speaker kits are limited to, you guessed it, 911. Additionally, the kit comes with a quick start guide to help you through the installation process, which we're told is a simple case of swapping out the original speakers for the Focal units, thanks to their design. So, put away those metal nibblers, files and such. Moreover, if you've followed the instructions, the speakers should sit perfectly positioned.
The P60 speaker kit comprises two eight-inch woofers (35Hz - 500Hz) that use Focal's 'W' composite sandwich cone partnered by a trio of four-inch midrange drivers (150Hz - 2,500Hz) that use the same cone material. Finally, a pair of 42mm Beryllium inverted dome tweeters (25kHz - 40kHz) literally top off the kit. Focal tells us that the kit delivers "an unparalleled level of detail, uncoloured sound, powerful and dynamic bass, as well as an even larger soundstage".
Having experienced a Burmester system in a Porsche Taycan Turismo, it would be interesting to hear a sound-off between the stock 911 with the P60 kit up against the Bose (£1,152) and Burmester (£3,746) factory-fitted offerings.
The Focal P60 Limited Edition is available now in a limited edition of 911 and costs £3,599/ €3,599.

applause awards
Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.
Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.
The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.
We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
