Focal Sopra N°2 Black Ostrea and Brown Concrete Finishes Announced
Focal's Sopra N°2 floorstanding loudspeakers are now available in Black Ostrea and Brown Concrete finishes - or "Oysters and Chocolate", as they put it.
Focal's Sopra N°2 speakers first appeared in the interesting concrete finish as a special edition in the French marque's part of the Focal Naim 10th Anniversary system, celebrating a decade of partnership between the two brands.
The freshly announced Black Ostrea and Brown Concrete options are seen as an evolution of that finish, designed to "bring a modern look and award-winning sound to contemporary home interiors" via these 119 x 35.8 x 54 cm floorstanders.
Focal proudly states that Sopra N°2 is equipped with the company's best midrange drivers. The 6.5-inch "W" coned unit features NIC (Neutral Inductance Circuit) and TMD (Tuned Mass Damper) technologies. This is partnered by a pair of 7-inch woofers and an IHL (Infinite Horn Loading) Beryllium inverted dome tweeter.
With the drivers handing off at 250Hz and 2,200Hz crossover points. Focal quotes a 34Hz-40kHz frequency response (+/- 3dB) for these 91dB efficient speakers.
We are told that the Black Ostrea finish is inspired by the pearlised appearance of an oyster, with an iridescent sheen to each side. Meanwhile, Brown Concrete sports warmer-toned, chocolate-coloured side panels paired with metallic bronze front panels.
The new Focal Sopra N°2 Brown Concrete and Black Ostrea finishes are available to order now, with an SRP of £14,999 per pair.
Suppose you don't find oysters or chocolate appetising in this form. In that case, Carrara White, Electric Orange, and Black Lacquer finishes, as well as in Light Oak and Black Oak editions are still available.
