Gold Note P-1000 MkII Out Now

Gold Note has released the P-1000 MkII preamplifier.
The Gold Note P-1000 MkII (€6500) is part of the Italian high-end audio brand's hand-made flagship 1000 series. What you have here is an ultra-balanced Class-A preamplifier powered by Gold Note's proprietary Six Gain Stage design featuring relays and an optical ALPS Encoder volume control. We're told that this enables incredibly low distortion and extended linear bandwidth for true superior musicality, says Gold Note.
The preamp is said to feature a complete series of settings to satisfy the most demanding systems: Mono/Stereo, Left/Right channel swap, Absolute Phase Swap (0° to 180°), Over-boost, and fine Balance tuning.
The Over-boost function is designed to drive speakers that need more energy in the lower frequency range. It offers two different modes to enable it to integrate seamlessly into a wide variety of systems.
The settings are stored in the system's memory together with the volume level for every single audio input, thus allowing a better experience and quick and easy intuitive adjustments.
The preamplifier is built around an ultra-rigid steel chassis finished with massive aluminium panels to mitigate RFI and EMI interference. The new design includes hidden screws on the front, top and side panels and the iconic air vents design formed by the Catenary curve.
Sporting a Triple Linear Transformer power supply, the P-1000MKII features eight independent stereo inputs - four fully balanced XLR, four RCA and a pair of RCA/XLR outputs.
To enhance the performance of the P-1000 MkII even further, it can be paired with the optional PSU-1250/1000 external super inductive power supply and/or the valve output stage, TUBE-1012/1006.
The Gold Note P-1000 MKII1 MkII is available now in a choice of black, silver or gold. The suggested retail price is €6500, but €7500 will get you the P-1000 MKII Deluxe version with optional features premium grade components and PSU.

applause awards
Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.
Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.
The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.
We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
