KEF Continues Lotus Collaboration With Speaker Systems In New Eletre EV

KEF's partnership with Lotus brings high-end audio to the latest Eletre EV, ensuring the car's occupants can enjoy excellent sound quality anytime.

Continuing the relationship between the two British high-end performance brands, which has seen the recently announced KEF x Loutus LS60 loudspeakers, KEF's audio know-how can also now be enjoyed on the move in Lotus's new Hyper SUV, the Eletre.

KEF and Lotus first kicked off their partnership in 2023 with the Lotus Emira. This mid-engined premium sports car saw KEF drawing on 60 years of audio experience to create a 10-channel audio system that could acoustically blend the drive units into the car to achieve a genuine spatial sound experience.

Mike Johnstone, Group Vice-President and Chief Commercial Officer at Lotus, told StereoNET:

Like every Lotus, the Eletre is first and foremost a car ‘For The Drivers’. Its DNA is 100% Lotus, with exceptional dynamic performance. It’s also the most advanced Lotus ever, blending that performance with comfort, practicality, versatile space, cutting-edge tech and modern luxury design into a vehicle that brings the Lotus experience to a whole new group of customers for the first time.

For the Lotus Eletre, however, KEF has developed two audio systems to augment the media consumption experience. First is a 1,380-watt, 15-speaker surround sound system in the form of KEF Premium. There's an even more impressive system in KEF Reference, which is a 2,160-watt, 23-speaker system with 3D surround sound and space-saving Uni-Core technology. Both systems are combined with Dolby Atmos, in another first for KEF Audio.

The speakers in the system are tuned by the same engineering team responsible for the sound of KEF's flagship loudspeakers like Blade and Reference. Thanks to a host of KEF's technologies, like a dedicated automotive version of the company's signature Uni-Q driver array and Shadow Flare, KEF promises "incredibly accurate and coherent sound" for the driver and passengers in the car.

Grace Lo, Deputy Managing Director of Gold Peak and President of KEF Audio Group, told StereoNET:

We are delighted that the long-term partnership between KEF and Lotus has fostered cross-sector cooperation, which signifies a testament to KEF's great R&D capabilities in audio technology. Based on our profound partnership and shared mission to deliver the best user experience, we look forward to continuing to explore cooperation opportunities and synergies with Lotus, extending to different settings and integrating into various living spaces.

It will be displayed for the first time in Australia in the Pullman Lobby as part of the Lotus KEF Display at the 2023 StereoNet Melbourne Hi-Fi & AV Show, held from 20-22 October at the Pullman Hotel & Convention Centre, Albert Park. Tickets are on sale now.

applause awards

Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.

Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.

The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.

We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
