Krix Announce Helix In Ceiling Loudspeaker

Australian loudspeaker manufacturer Krix have announced the Helix, a 6" coaxial in-ceiling speaker for their concealed speaker range for custom installation.

Featuring a unique design that Krix says "provides unsurpassed performance in a very compact package". Helix takes design cues from the larger Stratospherix which are both IP54 rated models which allows for outdoor installation, while the semi-enclosed construction results in a loudspeaker with very efficient bass response and a minimal 86mm mounting depth.

A 150mm bass/mid drivers with a durable polypropylene cone and oversized, low distortion magnet system takes care of the low frequencies. While a 20mm dome tweeter is concentrically mounted within the voice coil of the bass driver, providing uniform dispersion for room-filling sound.

Michael Cox, Marketing Manager for Krix told StereoNET:

The added advantage of this configuration is that the tweeter is less affected by reverse reflections, improving performance across its operating range.

As Helix is manufactured from weather resistant materials and features a rust resistant stainless steel grille, the Helix is suitable for installation outside under alfresco areas and in eaves, or inside the house in bathrooms, ensuites, or any other room.

A fixed grille and clever ‘twist and lock’ mounting system ensures easy installation. Simply cut out the hole, connect the speaker cables and then twist into place. The low profile, white paintable grille with slim-line bevel edge matches the Krix architectural range of concealed audio solutions.

Krix Helix is available now and sold individually for $295 RRP.

applause awards

Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.

Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.

The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.

We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
