MARANTZ LANDS ISHIWATA 40TH ANNIVERSARY SACD PLAYER AND AMPLIFIER

As reported exclusively by StereoNET back in May when Peter Familari spoke directly with Marantz Brand Ambassador, Ken Ishiwata, celebrating his 40th anniversary with the company, Marantz will deliver two special new products to Australia next month.

The very special, very collectible SACD player known as SA-KI Ruby will be available late November or early December 2018 and will sell for $7,990 RRP. You can read more about the SA-KI Ruby here.

In addition, Marantz has announced a companion to the SACD player in the form of the PM-KI Ruby integrated amplifier which will be limited to just 1,000 production units.

Each unit is set apart by a laser-etched facsimile of Ishiwata’s signature and a ‘Ruby’ motif atop their front-plates. As you would expect by a signature piece, the new components are designed and tuned by a team led by Ishiwata and said to deliver truly outstanding sound. It's also sure to become a collector's item.

Marantz PM-KI Ruby Integrated Amplifier

An all-analogue design, the PM-KI Ruby amplifier features a high-resolution preamplifier stage using proprietary HDAM technology, and a switching power amplifier design delivering 100W (8 ohms) per channel, and 200W (4 ohms) derived from Marantz's flagship PM-10 amplifier.

In addition to line inputs, it employs the newly-developed low-noise Marantz Musical Premium Phono EQ circuit, with both moving coil and moving magnet capability.

Marantz has also employed 'HDAM-SA3' circuitry and a new linear volume control and electric volume system which it says ensures "power, clarity and optimal dynamics."

The Marantz PM-KI Ruby Integrated Amplifier will sell for $7,990 RRP and is available to pre-order from specialist retailers now.

applause awards

Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.

Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.

The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.

We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
