MARK LEVINSON’S FIRST TURNTABLE NOW AVAILABLE

Partnering with one of the world's most respected brands in turntables, VPI Industries, Mark Levinson's No515 handcrafted turntable is now available

Until now, Mark Levinson has been exclusively an electronics company. By its own admission, they've never made a turntable nor know the first thing about making a turntable. But like Mark Levinson, VPI Industries is an American company manufacturing everything locally. It was a logical and natural fit for Mark Levinson.

Mark Levinson VPI No515 Turntable

There are high expectations on the Mark Levinson brand for its very first turntable, and VPI's industrial designers worked tirelessly to ensure that the visual language of ML remains true.

Meeting the exacting demands of the engineers and designers at Mark Levinson, VPI have delivered a genuinely stunning turntable.

Mark Levinson's Pure Phono stage found in its No523 and No526 preamplifiers are already regarded as exceptional, so the introduction of a Mark Levinson branded turntable to its range was an obvious and welcomed addition to bring out the very best in analog playback.

The No515 features a highly-damped composite and aluminium sandwich main chassis. Supporting the chassis are machined Delrin and Aluminium feet with a vibration-damping polymer core.

The drive system has been optimised with a mechanically isolated enclosure and triple belt drive.

A high-torque AC synchronous motor with integrated electronic speed control for precision 33 and 45 RPM speeds keeps the solid aluminium platter rotating with precision on an inverted bearing.

Finally, the gimbal-mounted 3D printed tonearm features an integrated headshell, stainless steel counterweight, and a discrete internal cartridge lead routing system.

The Mark Levinson No515 Turntable is supplied with an Ortofon Cadenza Bronze MC phono cartridge and is available now for $29,000 RRP.

applause awards

Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.

Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.

The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.

We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
