NAD CELEBRATES 45 YEARS WITH A TURNTABLE

Celebrating 45 years in business is a significant achievement, and NAD Electronics don't appear to be slowing down anytime soon.

Debuting at Rocky Mountain Audio Fest in Denver, Colorado last week, NAD took the covers off its new C 558 Belt-Drive Turntable.

Designed for performance and budget-minded vinyl-lovers, the C 558 comes with an Ortofon OM10 phono cartridge pre-fitted.

Geoff Matthews, Managing Director at NAD's Australian distributor Convoy, told StereoNET:

We've seen renewed interest in the NAD brand in Australia recently. The C 558 is a full-featured, belt-driven turntable targeted for the record enthusiast who is looking for exceptional value.

We know that this NAD offer will appeal to many first-time turntable buyers that demand great quality at an affordable price.

The turntable features a belt drive with both 33.3 and 45 RPM speeds, uses a precision AC motor with an isolated AC power supply.

It also features a 10mm glass platter and felt pad, MDF plinth, rubber isolation feet, and comes supplied with a dust cover. The 9" tonearm also allows for adjustment of vertical tracking angle and azimuth while the phono leads are detachable.

Greg Stidsen, Director of Technology and Product Planning for NAD added:

NAD continues to be at the leading edge of the high-res digital revolution however we also recognize that there is an equally enthusiastic market for vinyl playback.

The NAD C 558 Turntable will be available in November. Local pricing hasn't been confirmed yet however it will sell in the US for $500.

applause awards

Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.

Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.

The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.

We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
