Naim Announces New Addition to Mu-so Range

Naim have been producing the finest quality HiFi component for over 40 years. Building upon the success of their Mu-so series, released in 2014, the Mu-so QB is the new compact wireless music box, or 'cube', from Naim.

Since the very early days, England’s Naim, have ignored trends in HiFi design and manufacturing and trusted their own sense of what matters most in music playback. The Mu-so QB is no exception. It's more compact than its big brother, but equally impressive. Mu-so QB is the result of continued research and development and engineering breakthroughs by Naim's engineers.

Launched at the recent CES in Las Vegas, Mu-so QB astounded listeners with the depth and breadth of the sound from the small, yet elegant enclosure.

Chris Murphy, Naim's Australian Importer, told StereoNET:

With Mu-so Qb, we use the same principles that helped form the original Mu-so: no compromise on materials, sound quality or features. Mu-so Qb shares the same design DNA as Mu-so, all intuitively crafted into a truly compact cabinet, ideal for any living space. It is remarkably compact, but with 300 watts the sound is never restricted by size.

Recognising that integration with our connective lifestyles is important to consumers today, Mu-so QB delivers with its advanced, yet simple to use connectivity includes Airplay, Bluetooth®/aptX®, Spotify Connect®, TIDAL, UPnP™ (access your stored music), Internet Radio, USB, analogue and digital inputs, with Apple iOS and Android Apps for complete control.

For those fans of Naim with existing Mu-so or streaming products, Mu-so QB can be combined with them creating a true multi-room audio experience.

Why compromise sound quality for the convenience of a simple audio solution? Naim's engineers refined Mu-so QB, the end result being an arrangement of five drivers, offset and angled perfectly to create a left-right sound dispersion.

Two microfibre dome tweeters and two mid drivers, all driven by four 50W amplifiers, with rare earth magnets and copper-capped poles are utilised to ensure greater accuracy. Low frequencies are reproduced thanks to two pistonic passive bass radiators. These work alongside a custom-made woofer that’s driven by a 100W amplifier to create an astonishing bass sound for a system this size.

Naim Mu-so QB Customisation

Just like the Mu-so, the QB can be tailored to your decor thanks to a range of multi-colour interchangeable grilles, available as optional extras.

Naim Mu-so QB will be available in March for $1299 RRP.

Naim is distributed in Australia by N.A Distributors.

applause awards

Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.

Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.

The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.

We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
