Naim Audio’s New Uniti Range

Naim's passion for music has inspired their next generation of 'HiFi' products. According to Australian dealers, sales are higher than ever for integrated and all-in-one products, so the timing is right for the new Uniti range.

The new range consist of revolutionary all-in-one music players (Atom, Star, Nova) with five times the power of the previous generation, as well as a reference music server (Core).

Chris Murphy, Naim Audio's Australian Importer, told StereoNET:

We've seen tremendous growth in this all-in-one category. New Uniti is ready to go – just add speakers. Uniti gives instant access, total clarity and no compromise on quality, all within a beautiful all-in-one form. The advanced connectivity will unleash music wherever it is stored.

The range consists of:

  • Uniti Core - reference music server (rips CDs, stores and streams 1000’s of albums and backs up your music collection)
  • Uniti Atom - compact all-in-one player
  • Uniti Star - multi-functional all-in-one player with CD
  • Uniti Nova - reference class audiophile all-in-one player

The new Uniti range features an incredibly powerful 4th Generation 40-bit SHARC DSP processor. Capable of 2.7 billion 40 bit calculations per second, it's easinly powerful enough to resolve the most complex music signals with ease. Naim says this new powerful processor removes ‘jitter’ timing errors and performs accurate digital filtering to feed the Burr Brown DACs. "The result is a smoother and more precise sonic performance."

Uniti Atom, Star and Nova feature Class A/B Amplification, with 40w, 70w and 80w RMS per channel (8 Ohms) respectively.

You'll never be short of music choices with the new range, featuring GoogleCast for Audio (GC4A) built-in, TIDAL, Spotify Connect, AirPlay and Apple Music, UPnP, Bluetooth, USB as standard features.

With Uniti Core, you can rip CDs for bit perfect digital files you can store on a user installed head drive or external NAS.

Naim's own custom-designed app for both iOS and Android allows control of both generations of Uniti, along with Mu-so and Naim's other network players. For the Roon fans, there's no meniton of Roon compatibility unfortunately.

The supplied RF Remote Control is also interactive. It tailors and scales the full colour touch-screen front panel user experience to suit use by the remote control or locally. The Interactive Remote Control provides an always ready method to adjust the volume, change tracks, navigate to favourites or adjust the lighting.

Naim's original Uniti and the UnitiServe were early to the market of networked audio products and they're now back with the next generation. Naim have thought of everything with the new Uniti range; reference grade components, stylish design and a myriad of connectivity options. Do away with a rack of components and just add speakers.

The entire Uniti range are designed and made by Naim in Salisbury, U.K.

The new Uniti range will be available commencing November (Core), December (Atom), while Star and Nova will be released early 2017.

applause awards

Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.

Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.

The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.

We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
