Naim Control4 Driver Launched at ISE 2020

Control4's new driver enables installers to integrate Naim music streaming.

Naim Audio has launched a dedicated Control4 driver for its much-loved range of music-streaming speakers and systems.

Naim Control4 ISE 2020

The new driver hands seamless control of connected Naim products to installers via Control4's wide range of touchscreens, remote controls and apps. This enables high-performance multiroom music streaming to be easily integrated into discreet custom installations. The driver also supports volume control and source switching through the Control4 interface.

The Control4 driver works with all Naim products based the brand's latest-generation music streaming platform: the Mu-so and Mu-so Qb 2nd Generation wireless speakers; Uniti Atom, Uniti Star and Uniti Nova streaming systems, and ND5 XS 2, NDX 2 and ND555 dedicated music streaming players. Further Naim products – including the Uniti Core music server – can also be integrated, offering the ability to rip and store music collections for playback through home installations.

Additionally, the driver also currently supports browsing of TIDAL and Internet Radio with more services planned to roll out in the future. AirPlay 2, Chromecast built-in and Spotify Connect features continue to operate as usual, and the Naim App and individual product remote controls can also be used.

The Naim Control4 driver offers two control methods for a Naim streaming product. Firstly, as a media renderer, allowing browsing and playback of music services. The other is a traditional control method – enabling source switching, volume control and other functions. Moreover, the installer can use either or both ways in the project. Furthermore, the new driver connects the Naim product to a Control4 processor over a network connection, so no special cabling needed - you can also use wireless if really necessary.

Availability

The new Naim Control4 driver will be exclusively available to registered Control4 installers, who will be able to download the software from Intrinsic, from March.

applause awards

Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.

Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.

The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.

We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
