PIONEER’S S9 SCENE STYLE HEADPHONES OFFER THE SOUND OF SILENCE
Pioneer has announced the arrival of a new pair of premium wireless noise-cancelling headphones that have been designed to play nice with the Google Assistant.
The S9 headphones are the latest addition to the company’s Scene Style Series of headphones, slotting in at the top of the lineup thanks to a combination of high-end materials and 40mm rare-earth magnetic drivers that allow the ‘phones to support hi-res audio.
The S9 headphones are compatible with Qualcomm’s aptX HD Audio codec, although you will need to make sure your smartphone supports it too to reap the full benefits.
Pioneer says those benefits include deep bass and crystalline highs thanks to a wide frequency response created by the 40mm drivers and copper-clad aluminium voice coils.
You’ll be able to enjoy the sound in near-silence too thanks to the S9’s Active Noise Cancellation, which detects external noises around you and generates frequencies to oppose them to eliminate them.
There is an additional Ambient Awareness Mode that filters in some outside noise in situations where you need to hear what’s going on around you.
Other features include NFC for instant pairing to compatible devices and music controls on the side of the left earcup. It’s here you can also summon the Google Assistant from the press of a button. Once activated, you can use it as you would on your smartphone, asking it to read messages, set reminders, or play certain songs.
The drivers are housed within aluminium housings, which are connected to a wide polyurethane-cushioned headband, keeping them lightweight but ultimately, comfortable for long listening sessions.
The Pioneer S9 noise-cancelling headphones are expected to arrive in black in early 2019 and will sell for $249.95 RRP.
