PS Audio’s Most Advanced CD Transport Yet Now Available

PS Audio's Australian distributor, Magenta Audio, has let us know that its most advanced CD Transport yet, the PerfectWave SACD, is now available in Australia.
First teased late last year, the PerfectWave SACD Transport (PST) will output a raw DSD bitstream over a proprietary I2s output, straight to a capable DAC, in addition to DoP over XLR, BNC and Coax outputs. The difference between the newly released SACD Transport and the DirectStream Memory Player (DMP) released over four years ago is the PerfectWave SACD Transport has no DAC onboard.
PS Audio says that 38 years after the introduction of the CD, its engineers have continued their quest for perfection in the art of data extraction and delivery. Their mission has been to deliver what's been locked away in CD and SACD collections and extract and output the cleanest signal possible.
PS Audio explains - "As with the PST's predecessors, the PWT and DMP, PST is based upon an advanced Digital Lens which electrically isolates the mechanical transport/laser mechanism of the optical disc reader, removes jitter and timing artifacts, and focuses audio data into a single, bit-perfect, timing-perfected stream to your DAC."
With the PST, PS Audio has now introduced a galvanically isolated output stage. Further explained by the Colorado-based manufacturer - "By coupling the output of the drive mechanism to the PST's internal Digital Lens by nothing more than a pulse of energy across space, any hints of noise or ground contamination are eliminated. The results of this complete isolation are magical: a previously unheard level of image separation, openness, and effortless reproduction. Never have we experienced noise levels this low—a seemingly velvet blackness that must be experienced to understand."
If you have an I2S input-capable DAC, the PST will deliver the raw DSD layer of copyright protected SACD directly into your DAC. For many, this means that for the first time, "you'll uncover the wealth of audio's finest digital medium, DSD, and hear exactly what the mastering engineers who created these discs have enjoyed all along."
The PST is compatible with SACD/CD/CD-R/CD-RW/DVD-R*/-RW*/+R*/+RW* and will play MP3/WMA/AAC/WAV/FLAC/AIFF/DSD/2xDSD/ALAC files from discs or USB input.
Available now, the PS Audio PerfectWave SACD Transport sells for $9,995 RRP.

applause awards
Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.
Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.
The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.
We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
