PSB Speakers Synchrony Flagship Series Latest Edition Released

PSB's Synchrony speaker series arrives on the global stage with the range-topping T800 towers joining the B600 bookshelf speakers and T600 floorstanders.
As the renowned Canadian speaker maker celebrates its 50th anniversary, it ushers in the latest edition of its flagship series, touted as PSB's most advanced speaker line to date and the "the finest application of the brand's acclaimed 'True to Nature' acoustics". Joining the B600 and T600 announced last year is the T800 towers which have quite a different vibe to the recently announced and retro-tastic Passif 50.
Synchrony T800
The Synchrony T800 floorstanders are the largest speakers of the series and have bragging rights to possessing the widest frequency bandwidth and the greatest power handling capacity in the range - although neither measurement is mentioned in the press release we received.
Equipped with an all-new five-way transitional array employing a trio of 8-inch woofers, partnered with a 5.25-inch midrange driver, all featuring cast aluminium baskets and woven carbon-fibre cones. Up top is a 1-inch titanium dome tweeter in a heavily braced MDF cabinet and custom IsoAcoustic isolators on its outriggers.
The crossover is apparently the most advanced amplitude-perfect Linkwitz-Riley 4th order crossover that PSB Speakers has ever utilised. We're told that this features high-voltage poly film capacitors and oxygen-free interconnect wire for complete driver control.
The result of this new driver platform, says PSB Speakers, is a dramatic reduction of non-linear distortion, allowing for higher sound pressure levels without compression or increased THD and IM distortion.
Synchrony T600
Next down in size is the T600 tower, equipped with three 6.5-inch woofers and a 5.25-inch midrange driver that follow the same construction as the T800's design, as well as still offering the option of bi and tri-wiring. The T600 also sports a 1-inch titanium dome tweeter with Ferrofluid and a Neodymium magnet.
The advanced driver assembly features four elements (Faraday ring, shorted turn, longer voice coil, symmetrical magnetic drive) that work harmoniously to reduce driver distortion, states PSB Speakers. Finally, the T600 incorporates custom-designed IsoAcoustics integrated isolation feet, based on the same 3-part technology of their award-winning GAIA II isolators.
Synchrony B600
The B600 bookshelf speakers use the same driver platform as the Synchrony towers and can complement the floorstanders in a multi-channel system or be used as a compact listening option. The 2-way bass reflex design features a 6.5-inch woofer and a 1-inch titanium dome tweeter.
PSB states that the light and rigid nature of woven carbon fibre cone delivers wider bandwidth -- about half an octave deeper bass response over other of the company's driver designs -- with greater efficiency (88dB at 1m), higher power handling, and lower distortion.
PWM Series
The PWM is designed to support the Synchrony Series as centre channels and effect channels in multi-channel applications. The PWM's can be oriented vertically or horizontally and used as front left, right, centre or surround channel speakers. Whether as part of a complete on-wall system, a basic TV application or as an on-wall centre channel solution for floor-standing speakers.
Available now in Satin Walnut Veneer and High Gloss Black finishes, the T800 Premium Towers have an MSRP of £9,999/ €12,999 a pair, with the T600 Towers costing £7,999/ €9,999 per pair, while the B600 Bookshelf Speakers are priced £2,499/ €2,999 per pair.

Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.
Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.
The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s.
