RIO Sound & Vision to Open World Class Showroom in Melbourne

The stage is set for the grand opening of the years in the making, multi-million dollar, purpose-built showroom of RIO Sound & Vision in Preston, Victoria.
The curtain will open on April 3, 2023, to reveal what the company says is "the world's largest AV showroom". StereoNET visited the location and wrote about the grand plans back in 2015. And despite a global pandemic and the resulting shortage of trades and materials, Director Paul Riachi has remained focused on the goal.
The new showroom comprises 22 dedicated demonstration spaces, including a 50-seat THX Auditorium, two licensed bars, multiple exclusive real movie props, and even a movie set.
A visit to the establishment is a bonafide experience for the movie buff, with displays including a genuine Shelby GT 500 Mustang '67 fastback, as seen in the movie 'Gone in 60 seconds', the original Chevrolet Camaro Bumblebee from 'Transformers', as well as a 5-metre Transformers Optimus Prime robot. There are also themed spaces, including the 1960s Munsters Mansion and a 1968 Petrol Service Station.
If that wasn't enough, RIO Sound & Vision's Preston Experience Centre is also the first Loewe Gallerie store outside of Europe. You'll also witness incredible memorabilia and movie props never-before-seen anywhere in the world. RIO Sound & Vision has also been mentioned and highly regarded by the industry's very own THX Ltd corporation, which recently posted, "Something very cool is coming to Australia. Stay tuned!".
Riachi added:
We are truly honored to be involved and part of the THX Ltd program. There is no other certification in the movie industry or in the electronics industry that complies with perfection in sound and build quality. THX has been an integral part of our business and strikes a deep note in our hearts.
Celebrating more than 30 years in the business, RIO Sound & Vision have embarked on a project that is not only more than ambitious, but the sneak previews to date are most undoubtedly impressive. This time next month, when the curtains finally open, we do not doubt that RIO Sound & Vision will have set a new standard for AV Showrooms in Australia and the world.

applause awards
Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.
Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.
The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.
We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
