SENNHEISER GATHERS MOMENTUM ON THE DARK SIDE OF THE MOON

Sennheiser drew the inspiration for a Special Edition of its popular HD1 Momentum Wireless Edition headphone from the iconic Pink Floyd album The Dark Side Of The Moon.
The new revamped HD1’s celebrate the super group’s Pink Floyd Exhibition called enigmatically, Their Mortal Remains.
Sennheiser’s marketing team has pulled off a masterstroke by opting to launch the special edition HD1s to commemorate Floyd’s first retrospective at London’s Victoria and Albert museum that opened on May 13.
As the exhibition’s official audio partner, Sennheiser has gone into overdrive creating a totally immersive 3D audio experience that gives visitors a real life experience of the rich tapestry of sights, sounds and memorabilia culled from the band’s astounding career.
Sennheiser will also be supplying its groundbreaking AMBEO 3D audio technology to give the sounds of the exhibition an extra degree of fidelity.
The brand’s systems and components will be used exclusively throughout the exhibition.
One of the must see, must hear features of the Floyd exhibition is a wholly new immersive 3D mix of songs including Comfortably Numb Live from Live 8 representing the last time David Gilmour, Nick Mason and Richard Wright performed together on stage with former member, Roger Waters.
AMBEO 3D technology will be employed to put listeners directly into the soundfield providing a unique audio experience, and embodying the pioneering creative spirit of Pink Floyd.
The special edition of the HD1s are bound to be a keenly sought after, must-have collector’s item because of their association with this landmark event.
A customised fresh styling that shouts “Pink Floyd” has augmented the HD1 Momentum’s minimalist design and superb sound!
As a tribute to the band’s classic 1973 album, the Momentums features a stainless steel headband covered in leather with rainbow coloured stitching that mimics the visual spectrum on the album’s immortal cover.
Sennheiser has additionally given the HD1’s earcups new pearlescent rainbow sheen and engravings of Pink Floyd’s prism symbol. To finish it off, the HD1’s come bearing a nameplate that reads “Their Mortal Remains’’.
These ultra-exclusive headphones use stainless seel hinges to maintain design purity. A folding headband makes them ideal to be handily stored in a supplied carry case.

applause awards
Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.
Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.
The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.
We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
