SIMAUDIO LAUNCHES THE MOON 390 NETWORK PLAYER / PREAMPLIFIER

Simaudio’s new MOON 390 Network Player / Preamplifier brings together all you need for a complete high-end listening solution.

This one unit comprises a DAC, preamplifier, headphone amplifier, phono stage (MM/MC) and also has network streaming capability. In fact, all you will need to add is active loudspeakers to enjoy an exceptional audio performance.

Naturally, you could also plug in a power amp and some passive speakers if you were integrating the MOON 390 into an existing system.

Simaudio has combined the functionality of the award-winning MOON 350P preamplifier and MOON 380D DAC with the latest high-end streaming architecture.

This hands the MOON 390 a host of analogue and digital connection possibilities to suit, no matter how you play your music. In fact, you get no fewer than seven audio inputs (digital and analogue), an additional four HDMI ports, and four sets of audio outputs.

Furthermore, you will get an outstanding high-resolution streaming experience through music services such as Tidal Masters, Qobuz Sublime+ and Deezer Hi-Fi. This is pretty much guaranteed as the DAC architecture supports PCM (up to 32-bit/384kHz), DSD (up to DSD256) and is MQA certified. It's also Roon Ready and has Bluetooth aptX connectivity.

Finally, the MOON 390 is packing the latest MiND 2 streaming module. MiND 2 (MOON intelligent Network Device) allows the playback of all the most common file formats, including DSD and MQA (via local files and TIDAL Master files).

It also boasts a USB host port, so that you can access music on USB thumb drives. Moreover, it will also stream any digital or analogue input of the 390 to other MiND 2 zones on the same network.

The MOON 390 comes in a black, 2-tone, or silver finish, and will retail at £5,300.

Simaudio will be launching the MOON 390 at the High End Show in Munich, Atrium 4, Room E-126 (MOON by Simaudio).

applause awards

Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.

Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.

The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.

We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
