SIMAUDIO UPGRADES MIND2 STREAMING PLATFORM

Canadian hi-fi manufacturer, Simaudio, is ready to launch its MiND2 (MOON intelligent Network Device) streaming platform.
As reported in our High End Show coverage from Munich, the MiND2 is an intuitive way of organising, streaming and listening to music. It also caters for playback of the full spectrum of file formats, including DSD and MQA (via local and TIDAL Master files).
For all existing MiND users, Simaudio is offering a MiND2 upgrade scheme. MOON’s goal is to defy obsolescence by ensuring customers who have invested in the MOON brand are able to add the latest technology to their products.
The upgrade consists of the new MiND2 streaming board plus new firmware and software, with the work being undertaken by a local MOON dealer. The cost of the upgrade is £800 - however, until 31 August 2018, the upgrade can be carried out for £455.
MiND 2 Technology Features
- Roon Ready
- Access to Tidal, with Tidal Masters support
- Access to Deezer with Deezer Hi-Fi support
- Access to Qobuz, with Qobuz Sublime+ support
- Tune-In Internet radio music services
- UPnP Compatibility
- Multi-room synchronized playback
- Up to 32 bits/384 kHz sampling rate support on wired connection
- Up to DSD 256 sampling rate support on wired connection
Additionally, the MOON 390 Network Player will become available on July 14th.
The MOON 390 Network Player was also unveiled earlier this year in Munich. Naturally, it will come ready loaded with the new MiND2 streaming module.
The MOON 390 offers a complete high-end listening solution and incorporates a DAC, preamplifier, headphone amplifier, phono stage and network streaming capability. Simply connect the MOON 390 to a power amplifier or active loudspeakers.
Simaudio has built upon its heritage of outstanding audio products by combining the functionality of the award-winning MOON 350P preamplifier and MOON 380D DAC with the latest high-end streaming architecture to create the MOON 390. With a host of analogue and digital connection possibilities, no matter how you play your music, Simaudio says the MOON 390 offers astonishing levels of detail.
The MOON 390 is designed to deliver an outstanding high-resolution streaming experience through music services such as Tidal Masters, Qobuz Sublime+ and Deezer Hi-Fi. The DAC architecture supports PCM (up to 32-bit/384kHz), DSD (up to DSD256) and is MQA certified. It is also Roon Ready and has Bluetooth aptX connectivity.

applause awards
Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.
Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.
The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.
We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
