SVS 3000 SERIES SUBWOOFERS HAVE LANDED

If there's one thing Ohio-based, US brand SVS knows, it's subwoofers. The company has built a very highly regarded reputation around them. So the announcement of its brand new 3000 Series range subwoofers is welcome news.

Comprising two models, the SB-3000 ($2,690 RRP) Sealed Subwoofer, and the PB-3000 ($2,990 RRP) Ported Subwoofer, both featuring SVS's new 13-inch high-excursion driver.

The 11kg SVS driver uses a dual-toroidal magent motor which is said to "deliver punishing low-frequency output" while maintaining crisp speed in transients and fast response.

It uses an Aluminium vented cone that is also said to be exceptionally stiff, and a proprietary injection-moulded extreme-excursion surround.

Both models utilise a Sledge STA-800D|2 plate amplifier rated to 800w RMS or 2500w peak power. SVS says its "fully discrete Class D MOSFET amp maximises the full potential of the new 13-inch driver with effortless power and control."

An all-new rear panel features SVS's "New Intelligent Control Interface", which intuitively features touch buttons and an LED bar interface. The panel allows control of volume, low pass frequency, phase and other critical functions.

One of SVS's greatest advancements has been the development of its SVS Subwoofer Smartphone App (iOS and Android). The 3000 Series is compatible with the app which offers a convenient way to control volume, access multiple DSP functions and program custom presets. The advanced app included provision for setting crossover frequencies, a three-band parametric EQ, polarity, room gain and more, from the convenience of the listening position.

Also unique to the PB-3000 ported subwoofer is the Dual Port cabinet design drawing on the legacy of models higher up the range including the 4000 Series and 16 Ultra Ported Box model.

SVS 3000 Series are available now.

applause awards

Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.

Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.

The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.

We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
