SVS AWARDED WITH TOP SUBWOOFER HONOURS

Subwoofer gurus SVS are chuffed at the moment having been awarded top honours by EISA for 2018-2019 for its SB-4000 subwoofer.
EISA's judging panel is made up of over 50 AV magazines and technology websites from 25 countries and has announced the SB-4000 subwoofer has earned the prestigious 2018-2019 EISA award as the top subwoofer in the world.
Criteria that led to the award was its combination of advancements to the driver, amplifier, cabinet and overall user control experience that EISA says outpaces anything available in the industry and brings reference quality bass to an unprecedented value.
Gary Yacoubian, President of SVS Audio, told StereoNET:
The announcement is even more special because it’s the second year in a row an SVS subwoofer has won, since the PB16-Ultra was honoured in 2017-2018.
The SB-4000 uses a sophisticated Sledge STA-1200D amplifier which is said to combine the high current output of discrete MOSFETs with Class D efficiency. SVS says this unleashes "nearly limitless on-demand power while maintaining precise driver control so the subwoofer can be pushed beyond reference playback levels without flinching, and still achieve accurate frequency response."
EISA's judges commented on the SVS SB-4000:
When it comes to a bass performance you can feel as well as hear, the SB-4000 is in a class of its own. Borrowing technology from SVS’s 16-Ultra reference-grade range, this breathtaking subwoofer is equipped with a ‘Sledge’ amplifier boasting a mighty 4000W peak delivery. Its long-throw, 13.5in driver – bolted inside a solid closed cabinet – is capable of unleashing pure dynamics even with the very lowest subsonic frequencies. SVS’s advanced DSP offers impeccable room correction with full parametric equalisation, letting the SB-4000 provide pinpoint LFE precision from any location, while all its settings can be easily altered via remote control or smartphone app. Offering maximum SPL, massive slam and an incredible low-frequency extension, this sub will shake, rattle and
roll your home theatre.
It also features a 50 MHz Analog Devices Audio DSP with 56bit filtering which SVS says is "the most sophisticated DSP engine ever used in a home audio subwoofer, and enables pristine output and refinement that’s true to the source material."
The SB-4000 uses a proprietary 13.5" long-throw driver with a dual ferrite magnet motor assembly.
Borrowing technology from the top of the range SVS 16-Ultra model, you can conveniently control and create custom presets via the SVS subwoofer DSP smartphone app for Apple and Android devices. No more crawling around the room and running back to the sub to make fine adjustments!
Understandably, SVS and its Australian distributor, Interdyn, are grinning from ear-to-ear with the announcement of the EISA award.
The SVS SB-4000 subwoofer is available now in premium black ash or piano gloss black finish and comes standard with a protective, non-resonant steel mesh grille. It sells for $3,790 RRP.

Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.
The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s.
