X-ODOS RELEASES XO|ONE MUSIC SERVER

Never heard of it? Neither had we. But with a bit of digging, we discovered this German company that was founded in 2014 and specialises in music servers is already becoming quite the force.
X-Odos' latest release, the xo|one features an all-new design that it says sets an aesthetic benchmark for the category. In its second generation the xo|one features enhancements including the native integration of Qobuz, as well as electronic and circuitry improvements.
The xo|one is a music server that has been built with a purist approach. There's no Roon, and no choice of app other than X-Odos' proprietary app for iOS - Android users need not apply. While it may be proprietary, the incredibly simple app combines your music collection perfectly with the catalogs of Highresaudio, Tidal, and Qobuz.
For those dearly hanging on to their cherished CD collection, the xo|one might be all you now need. It will simply and automatically rip your CDs in the lossless FLAC format.
Unlike many other music servers on the market, there's no bloat. This is an audiophile's music server, playing directly from its 1TB (upgradeable to 4TB) solid-state hard drive, and supporting music formats up to 24 Bit / 192 kHz and supports DoP (DSD over PCM).
There's no redundant DAC or amplifier circuitry - just an AES/EBU and S/PDIF digital outputs for connection to your high-end DAC of choice.
The gently rounded front panels and chassis are elegant, while the laser-milled “x” is illuminated by eight LEDs and can be set to white, green, red, blue and light blue depending on your mood.
Machined from high-quality aluminium the xo|one comes in black, silver and champagne and is available now for $12,500 RRP.

applause awards
Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.
Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.
The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.
We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
