YAMAHA ADDS AMAZON MUSIC AND MORE TO MUSICCAST

Yamaha has announced it will be adding Amazon Music to the list of streaming services that its MusicCast products support.
From October, compatible MusicCast products including wireless speakers, soundbars and Yamaha’s wireless turntable will receive a free firmware update which will enable the service.
Yamaha’s MusicCast allows both access and playback of online streaming services on single or multiple MusicCast throughout your home.
In addition to Amazon Music, MusicCast supports a range of music streaming services including Spotify, Deezer, TIDAL and Internet Radio with Apple Music available via AirPlay 2.
An additional update is planned for later in 2019, making selected MusicCast devices compatible with Enhanced Alexa Voice Control. With the update applied, Alexa devices such as the Echo or Dot will be able to control and play Amazon Music, Gimme Radio, iHeartRadio and TuneIn on compatible Yamaha devices through the MusicCast Smart Home Skill.
According to Yamaha, while support for services will vary by region, support for additional streaming services with Alexa are in the works.
MusicCast Products receiving the update include the MusicCast 20 and MusicCast 50 wireless speakers, MusicCast BAR 400 (YAS-408), MusicCast BAR 40 (YMS-4080), XDA-QS5400 MusicCast multi-room streaming amplifier and MusicCast VINYL 500 turntable.
AV receivers which will receive the updates include Yamaha’s AVENTAGE RX-Ax80 Series, RX-Vx85 Series, RX-S602 slimline AV receiver, HTR-4072, HTR-5072 and CX-A5200 AV preamp/processor.

applause awards
Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.
Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.
The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.
We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
