Technics has launched its EAH-AZ70W true wireless noise-cancelling earphones at CES 2020.

The EAH-AZ70W earphones combine superior sound technologies with compact size and lightweight design, as well as boasting Dual Hybrid Noise Cancelling Technology, according to the company.

The Technics EAH-AZ70W features a newly developed 10mm dynamic driver that uses a graphene-coated PEEK diaphragm and an acoustic control chamber. We are told that the chamber optimises the airflow generated from the driver unit and creates a "clear and vast sound space".

The EAH-AZ70W true wireless earphones are equipped with Dual Hybrid Noise Cancelling Technology, combing feedforward (FF) and feedback (FB) methods as well as digital and analogue processing. The digital and analogue controls work together to minimise extraneous noise. The bud's touch sensor allows you to switch between Ambient Sound Mode, Noise Cancelling Mode or Off to adjust the listening experience based on preference or environment. The earphones return six hours of continuous playtime with the noise-cancelling activated. The charging case adds a further 18 hours.

The IPX4 Splash-proof EAH-AZ70W uses simultaneous L/R reception to hand you interruption-free performance and high-quality sound. It should also mitigate lag when using the earphones when watching videos.

Its high-performance MEMS microphone minimises wind and other background interference, enabling outstanding noise cancellation and call quality performance. Furthermore, its beamforming technology allows efficient voice transmission during phone calls.

The EAH-AZ70W is available in black or silver with a matching charging cradle and will be in stores from June 2020.

applause awards

Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.

Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.

The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.

We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
