GALLERY: HONG KONG AV & HEAD-FI SHOW 2017

Hong Kong's AV - HeadFi Show held at the Hong Kong Expo and Convention Centre attracted an estimated 30,000 strong crowd. Here's our gallery of what can be seen and heard at this great show.

As my first time to the HK show, all I'd been told was to expect crowds, ridiculous humidity and that this show is Asia's answer to Munich's High End Show. They were spot on, except to say that in my opinion the Convention Centre is actually a much better venue than Munich's MOC for ease of getting around, catering options and an overall better presentation.

Crowds were in the thousands, in fact rumoured to have attracted an estimated 30,000 attendees across the three days making it the busiest HiFi show in the world. With no pre-purchasing of tickets available, the queues for ticketing certainly reflected that those numbers. Fortunately a Press Pass saw me bypass the queue and get straight in. Perks!

There's no doubting high end audio and HiFi in general is alive and well in Asia, but even stronger is the evident popularity of Portable Audio and Headphones. The booths in Hall 3 were literally packed with keen enthusiasts plugging in their smartphones to demo the very latest offerings.

And with that, here's our gallery. There's also more photos and you can join in the discussion in the event thread.

applause awards

Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.

Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.

The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.

We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
